Creative Christmas Competitions 2014
So….are you snowed under with comps? There are more Advent giveaways than ever this year and it’s a job to keep on top of them! If I’m honest though, it can be rather dull to do all that form-filling and clicking – and I prefer to find enter the more creative and fun Christmas competitions instead!
Each year the promoters ask the same type of questions on Facebook and Twitter, so you might want to have a think about your answers and make a note of them somewhere you can easily access them – using the Notes function on your phone, Evernote, or a document on Google Drive. Then you can copy and paste and tweak your answers to suit the individual competitions – add smileys or photos too! Make a new folder of festive photos from Christmasses past and present too – do this in the cloud if you can, so you can access them whether on your computer, iPad or phone
Here are some of the most common competition questions I’ve seen doing the rounds so far this year:
- Describe your worst Christmas present
- What are your plans for Christmas Day?
- What’s your top Christmas recipe?
- What’s your Christmas tradition?
- What’s your favourite Christmas film?
- What does your child want for Christmas?
- What’s your favourite Christmas song?
- What’s your favourite Christmas memory?
And the photos you’ll need:
- Christmas jumper
- Christmas tree
- Christmas lights
- Festive pets!
- Unwrapping gifts on Christmas Day
- Child’s letter to Santa
Christmas creative comps: my top picks
There will be lots of photo comps of course, many of which are already up and running! The @Brand AlleyUK Advent competition offers a prize for a photo submitted on the daily theme (see below) and #AdventChallenge. Check their Instagram feed each day to see what prize is up for grabs.
Tesco are giving away a massive prize bundle including an iPad, TV and hundreds of pounds of vouchers. All you have to do is take a photo of their green hat, and share on social media with #hatsnap (or email to Tesco directly) before 14.12. Full details are at www.tesco.com/competitions/hatsnap/ – it’s a random prize draw, so definitely worth a go!
If you’re out shopping, pop into Beaverbrooks to pick up a Hint card – share a photo of your Hint List on Facebook or Twitter with #HintList. Two winners will get £250 to spend in store. Ends 22.12 – full details are here.
And if you fancy a bite to eat, how about eating at Wagamama – you can make an origami star, take a photo and make a wish for your loved one on Twitter with #wagamamawishes. They’re granting one wish every day until Christmas Eve – details here.
If you’re creative and are lucky enough to have a bit of time on your hands, you could create a gingerbread house. Enter it into the AO.com competition and you could win £1000 of appliances (ends 14.12).
One for crafty compers – win a £100 Tesco card with a photo of your home made decorations. Three runners up get £50 vouchers and it’s a random draw – check the details here and enter by 15.12.
ASOS are giving away a daily prize for anyone who tags a Christmas photo on Instagram – check the @ASOS_Advent account for details of the prizes, and tag your photos with #Instadvent plus the date, eg. #InstaAdvent7.
Finally, don’t forget about Costa’s weekly competition – and there’s also a linky list below. I’ll add more fun comps as I spot them, or feel free to add to it yourself – have a creative Christmas!
