How to win Glastonbury tickets

I love Glastonbury Festival, and have been 14 times since my first visit in 1992! I bought tickets for the first few festivals (when they were only around £50 each) and blagged in for free once, but after discovering comping in the late 90s I have managed to win a pair of tickets for every other visit. I’ve won them from EE, The Big Issue, The Guardian, Yop, Tuborg Lager, The Hut, and multiple times with Q Magazine – and three of these were VIP tickets with backstage camping! In fact, there’s not been a time when I’ve wanted to go to Glastonbury and haven’t won tickets – a few times I’ve even won them for my mates too.

At the 2022 Glastonbury festival, I recreated a photograph of me in 1992 taken up at the Stone Circle… sitting in that field looking down at the festival below is one of my favourite places in the world!

I won’t be going to Glastonbury this year, as I went last year to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday, and I want to celebrate my own 50th birthday there in 2024, so I’m taking a year off! But there are a few nice competitions around to win tickets so I’ve collated them in this blog post and wish you the best of luck!

My top tip to win Glastonbury tickets is to look out for sponsors running judged competitions – my last two Glastonbury wins were a TikTok duet competition with EE (which had five winners and only around 30 valid entries), and a tiebreaker competition with Tuborg lager where you had to say which bands would be playing your dream Glastonbury (I think mine had Beastie Boys, Girls Aloud and Duran Duran headlining!).

Even with a prize draw you should try to make your entry stand out. I won two sets of Glastonbury tickets in the 1990s and 2000s by sending my postcard entry off to the magazines with a pair of kids wellies, with a note “I’ve got the wellies – all I need are the tickets!”. Of course there are no postcard draws now for Glasto tickets, but you can still apply the same principle by adding a photo, video or rhyme to your Twitter or Facebook comment. Remember – you should aim to stand out as the ideal prize winner, someone who clearly loves Glastonbury, has put the effort into their entry and will absolutely make the most of those prize tickets! If you have any sort of fun props at home – tent, flags, old programmes, festival hats, rainwear & wellies then a fun Glastonbury themed photo shoot might work in your favour.

Keep an eye on the social feed of all Glastonbury partners for the latest competitions:
Co-op, Vodafone, Oxfam and Chilly’s have all been involved with giveaways so far, but I’ve yet to see a judged creative competition, which will give you the best chance of a win as fewer people will take part.
