It’s holiday time again – and we need to keep those kids busy! What could be better than comping? Here are my favourite current creative competitions for the younger family members (with closing dates between June & September 2017).
If you’re out shopping be sure to pop into The Entertainer toy shop – they always have one or two post-in-store entry form competitions during the holidays (I believe there’s one to design your own fidget spinner this week!).

Win books and the chance to meet Jacqueline Wilson
If your child is 7-12 years old they can enter Jacqueline Wilson’s new competition – they need to write a letter ‘to someone who lives far away’ (no longer than 750 words). One winner will have their letter published in an upcoming Jacqueline Wilson novel, plus £100 worth of books, a year’s subscription to First News, a book bundle for their school and the chance to meet Jacqueline Wilson! Read more here – you can enter online or by post. This closes on 8th September 2017.
Win your cake produced by Patisserie Valerie!
If your kids love cake as much as my son does, this is a great one! Design a gateau for Patisserie Valerie and you could win it created as a limited edition whole gateau in store. Download the entry form here (or ask for one in store) – draw your cake and describe the ingredients, then scan your entry form and return by email to: email@example.com with the subject line ‘Junior Baker’. Open to under 16s, full details are here and the closing date is 1st September 2017.
Win a Micro-Scooter
Download and print the WhiteStuff Kids Pack from Whitestuff.com (or pick one up in store) and you’ll find a competition to win a scooter. Your child needs to write their favourite things about summer and then post off the sheet to WhiteStuff before 23rd August 2017. T&Cs are here.
Other kids comps
Check my advice on entering competitions in kids comics and magazines – and look out for the mags where you can only enter on the forms as entry numbers will be low. You can also join SnapperTime, where you can earn rewards and prizes for completing fun challenges with the kids – and their sister site WhipperSnapperKids always has lots of competitions too!
