Creative kids competitions
Do your children love comping too? If they love to write and make things, don’t miss these lovely judged competitions…
Win an iPad Mini and £200 of books
If you’re primary school age (4-11), share a rhyme that’s 4-30 lines long, funny, revolting and contains a Roald Dahl character for your chance to win amazing prizes. You can enter in English or Welsh, and both language winners will receive an iPad mini plus a one-year family pass to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, two copies of the Revolting Rhymes paperback edition and two complete sets of Roald Dahl’s children’s titles – one for the entrant and the other for his or her school. In addition, nine English language runners up and three Welsh language runners up will each receive two sets of books, plus a ‘Revolting Rhymes’ DVD. And all the winners and runners up will be published in their very own free e-book! Closing date is 21 October 2016. Find out more at www.revoltingrhymers.com
Win iPads & creative architecture toolkits
Children worldwide can enter the Serpentine Galleries’ Build Your Own Pavilion Young Architects Challenge by designing a small scale model of a flexible outdoor structure in the 3D CAD Design category, or physical model category. There are two age groups in each category (8-10 years and 11-14 years) and a child can enter up to five designs before 9 October 2016. The winner in each category gets an iPad and runners up will win an architecture toolkit jam packed with books and creative materials. Find out more at buildyourownpavilion.serpentinegalleries.org

Win a set of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books
If you love Enid Blyton, you’ll enjoy the First News postcard competition! Pretend you’re one of the Famous Five, download the postcard template at www.enidblyton.co.uk/postcardcompetition/ and write up to 200 words about your adventures. The winner, picked by the team who work on Enid Blyton’s books, will see their postcard featured in a future edition of First News, and win a whole set of The Famous Five books for themselves and their school library, and an Enid Blyton themed goody bag. Closing date is 15 December 2016 – no age limits are stated for this, although you need to include your age on the entry!

Win your height in board games
This week Hungry Horse pubs are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Relief. Kids under 12 can collect an entry form in the pub and design a charity Christmas card – three winning entries will be printed and receive their height in games (actually supplied as an Amazon voucher, maximum value £400).
