Celebrating success – #PGRaisingOlympians

Procter & Gamble have hosted some wonderful generous promotions for London 2012, including their ‘Thank You Mum’ video competition and lots of in-store purchase necessary comps. Several of my friends won a trip to Friday’s Opening Ceremomy courtesy of a P&G/Tesco promotion – in fact, P&G claimed they were giving away 90% of their ticket allocation to prizewinners. Now that’s MY kind of promoter!

This post is my entry for the #PGRaisingOlympians Celebrate Their Success Linky, sponsored by P&G – to take part, blog about how you celebrate your child’s successes and add your post to the linky here. Four winners drawn at random gets a £250 spa voucher, and P&G are supplying ten goody bags for runners up too. It closes on 3 August 2012.

P&G have shared some amazing stories from all over the world at www.pgproudsponsorofmums.co.uk, where mums of athletes competing at London 2012 share their thoughts and tell us how they helped their child realise their ambitions. There are lots of great films on the YouTube channel but I love the story of 6’4″ fencer Magdalena Piekarska…

As for celebrating my own child’s successes – well, Ry’s just getting to an age where I can do that. Which is a relief, because just a few months ago the only successes we really had to celebrate were him eating an entire carrot, or remembering his own name!

Just a couple of weeks ago he swam alone with a woggle for the first time at his swimming classes, and last week he learnt how to ride his scooter in a straight line (rather than in a circle!). Wahey!

I have a supply of toy ‘winner’ medals in our house which are awarded for special successes like this… and I hope we’ll have many more awards ceremonies in the future!

(…of course the medals also come in handy for my own competition photo shoots too!)
