My 2014 Prize Wish List
Have you created your prize wish list for 2014 yet? In Friday’s ‘setting up your prize spreadsheet’ post, I mentioned the importance of being an organised comper, but you also need to be a FOCUSED comper if you really want to rake in the best prizes! Decide on the things you really want to win and focus your attention on finding and entering competitions with those prizes – ideally low entry creative or purchase necessary comps. Create and add to a wish list of prizes in a notebook, on your Notes app, on a chalkboard at home or even on Pinterest and make sure you regularly check it for motivation. Do regular Google and Twitter searches for promotions giving away the prizes on your list and actually visualise yourself winning them… it’s inspiring and fun, and positive thinking gets you everywhere!
Some of my most wanted prizes remain on my list each year (I’ve still not won a bread maker or a stay at the Legoland Hotel!) so now I keep a single wish list on Pinterest and add to it whenever I’m inspired.
Follow Di’s board Wishlist on Pinterest.
I won a handful of prizes from my 2013 wish list – £500 of blinds for my new house, a coffee machine, a Kitchenaid, a barbecue, several bottles of champagne – and one free haircut (I’m working on winning a year’s worth!). Begrudgingly I had to pay for the new bathroom I had hoped for, but this year I’m determined to make up for it by winning a brand new kitchen!
In addition to the kitchen, this year’s BIG wish list prizes are a Mini Cooper and a trip to the World Cup in Brazil. At the other end of the scale, I’d like some cleaning products (including dishwasher tablets, which I really begrudge spending money on!) and a family ticket to Drusillas in Sussex…

What’s on YOUR wish list for 2014 – and how did you get on winning the prizes you wanted last year?

I wanted to win an iPad to replace our broken one and a phone to replace Mr M’s stolen one and I won BOTH (!!) on 7th January! Best make a new list for the rest of the year …! Good luck for 2014 xx
wowww great wish list <3 win any car is one of my wish list too <3
I love ambition! BTW Drusillas are doing ‘Friends for a fiver’ until the end of the month with members if you fancy? X
Every time I get an email saying there’s a new blog post here I’m inspired. Now I have a wishlist of what I’d like to win! Though think it’s mostly stuff I’d like to win before I kick the bucket, if I win all of them in 1 year… not sure what to do except drop my jaw to the floor.
Yes, my Pinterest wishlist is more of a lifetime one too I think! I just get to January again and feel I need a bit of an annual refresh…. really hope you win something fabulous this year Helen!
Di I love your email’s they’re just so inspiring! ‘This year I will not waste my time entering things I don’t want to win… (I can’t help the odd runner up prizes LOL) Your wish list is impressive, I could just transfer 50% on to mine, except the mini, my car would have to be something slightly larger (ahhhh I’ll ponder on that one) thank you Happy New Year.
Good luck this year Chris!
I’ve won a family ticket to Drusillas twice now in the last 4 years, the key to winning those Di ( and anyone else who like me lives in Sussex) is to enter local paper and local family grapevine magazine comps as they also crop up in those! Good Luck!!
This year my priority win is a washing machine!!
I’ve got a copy of Grapevine here – must do the comps in it! Good luck winning a washer this year Emma!
I sort of cheat in this respect. I know what I want, I know how much it costs, so I enter as many comps as I can that’ll net me the equivalent value, e.g. I wanted a PS4 (£349), I won an XBox One instead (so sold it for £455 and bought the PS4).
My wishlist would probably just have the winning numbers for Euro Millions on it, and if I nail that I’ll happily buy you your wishlist as a thank you for all your help.
Now THAT would be excellent Michael! Well done on the PS4/XBox combo – I did the same in 2012 when I wanted a MacBook and there were hardly any comps for one. I won an iPad & sold it to help me buy the MacBook – some compers may frown at this, but winning/selling gadgets has funded several of my holidays to far-flung destinations such as Cambodia & Sri Lanka (which you hardly EVER see comps for!)
