SuperLucky Stories 2015: food & drink
Welcome to this week’s installment of SuperLucky Stories – the second of four blog posts showcasing the wonderful creative entries that were successful for SuperLucky readers last year. Missed last week’s? Read it here. In the final post I’ll announce which of you won a £50 Amazon voucher in my prize draw!
There are lots of different competitions with foodie themes, most will involve cooking a themed recipe, maybe with a certain ingredient, or ask you to feature a product in a photo. My particular favourites are any that give me an excuse to buy alcohol (like the current Old Speckled Hen promotion!) Here are some wonderful mouth-watering entries that won prizes for SuperLucky readers last year…
Fiona won a fabulous trip to the vineyards of Spain in a Waitrose comp, with this photo of her Spanish feast. “It obviously pays to buy wine to enter competitions!” – I have to agree!

Vegetarians look away now! Fiona‘s Farm to Fork inspired artwork won a £250 farm stay voucher with Red Tractor foods!

Kellie won £200 Waitrose vouchers by sharing an Appletiser cocktail on Instagram:
#Appletiser #Cocktail
Rebecca‘s son won the chance to meet Mary Berry with his tasty orange cookies, which you can read about on his blog The Brilliant Chef! “I still think it was just a dream and can’t believe it really happened” says his proud mum!
Joy won one of the Laimon Fresh monthly photo challenges and bagged an iPad with this cute and colourful photo collage of her daughter and a can of Laimon Fresh (want to create a collage yourself? Check out my Photogrid tutorial!) Joy’s tip? “I think you have to be different, and show passion for what you are doing!”

Lynn won a Kindle and lots of Bahlsen biscuits from Morrisons with this lovely photo of her favourite biscuit:

Laura won one of the Paym daily £250 cash prizes by sharing her creative sarnie! “I only really got into comping last year, but I love it!”
Grainne won a pair of comps with two photos of her cute ice cream cups. “The first was a family break for 2 nights with breakfast and an evening meal with HB Ice-cream. I then took another photo without the HB ice-cream and won a night in a family room with Breakfast in any Jury’s Inn. So my photo won me over €400 of hotel breaks!”
Lydia won a cookbook with her fabulous festive Mug Cake. “I’m trying to learn to comp smarter and find competitions with fewer entries or a better chance of winning. I think my best was one for a really nice cookery book on Twitter where you had to submit a photo of a mug-cake. After first checking with the promoters, my daughter and I both entered. They were giving away 5 copies of the book but they only had 4 entries so we both won a copy!”

Lynn won a year’s supply of Seabrooks Crisps with this beauty! “They are a local Yorkshire company so I decided to go with ‘A Weelie Good Spud’ due to the Tour De France coming to the region later in the year!”
Jilly won a barbecue with her hot dog photo. “I decided to take the plunge and enter creative comps. I was a little daunted as many entries are so fabulous and I always felt I didn’t stand a chance! I entered the Casillero Del Diablo comp – you had to design a hot dog fit for a devil. I was delighted to win a £200 Weber BBQ, BBQ tools, apron and case of their wine. I really enjoyed creating my hot dog and it was well worth spending the time and effort. I learnt a lot too. I know to have better light and background next time. I also need a better camera, but that’s on the wish list! Because I had put effort into the comp rather than fill out a form I was even more chuffed about my win!”
Thanks to everyone who sent in their amazing photos – read part one here, and look out for part three next week!

Top notch entries, well done all
Thanks for the mention for daniel. I just showed him and he’s delighted to be on your blog. What brilliant entries from everyone – I’m really enjoying reading these whilst I’ve cut back on comping because my 2 yr old has just been diagnosed with arthritis Which has drained me of any creativity and energy for the time being. X
I’ve just read your post about Miss T, I’m so sorry to hear about this but as you say, it’s good to have it diagnosed early. Like many I didn’t realise arthritis could affect someone so young, and your blog post I”m sure will make people aware. Thinking of you and the family at this difficult time x
thanks Di for your kind words. I’ve met so many lovely online friends via comping that they’ve been a great source of friendship and support through the past couple of months. One lovely comping friend reminded me that the comps will always be there and it’s ok to take some time out to focus on Miss T at the moment. Having said that I will occasionally need the escape of doing some comping soon I reckon! x
Those are all really fab. Well done everyone
