10 Years of the Macfarlane Packaging Unboxing Survey – 10 Prizes to Win!
This post has been sponsored by Macfarlane Packaging.
Macfarlane Packaging love to hear about your unboxing experiences – and this year they are celebrating their tenth annual survey to hear more about the packaging of your online orders. Macfarlane is the UK’s leading protective packaging distributor and they’re on a mission to ensure your online shopping ends with a good unboxing experience.
This year ten lucky entrants will win prizes, including a £200 One4All voucher, £100 SpaBreaks.com voucher, Apple Air Tags, Champagne and the ideal prize for a comper, a Ring Doorbell.
Unboxing my prizes on YouTube is exciting – but the amount of packaging waste can be disappointing. While I love receiving fun and surprising deliveries, it’s frustrating to see so many non-recyclable materials being used. Whether it’s oversized cardboard boxes stuffed with bubble wrap or plastic-wrapped branded goodies, there’s definitely room for improvement when it comes to eco-friendly packaging!
The Macfarlane Unboxing Survey is designed to get an idea of the type of packaging people receive in the post when they make online purchases, and how efficient and environmentally friendly it is. In previous years the survey has revealed that people want to receive their purchases in packaging that’s easy to open, easy to return and kind to the environment – so ideally it should be fully recyclable. I’ve noticed a lot of retailers have switched from plastic bags and padded envelopes to cardboard or paper packaging, which is great news.
What are the prizes?
This year as it’s the tenth annual Unboxing Survey, there are ten great prizes up for grabs! Winners will be selected at random from everyone who completes the survey.
- £200 One4All Voucher or Charity Donation
- NINJA Creami NC300UK Ice Cream & Frozen Dessert Maker (worth £180)
- £100 SpaBreaks.com Voucher or Charity Donation
- Dualit Hot Chocolate Maker & Hot Chocolate Bundle (worth £90)
- Cadbury Ultimate Chocolate Basket (worth £70)
- 2 x Apple Air Tags (worth £55)
- £50 National Book Tokens
- Wired Ring Doorbell (worth £50)
- Amazon Echo Pop Smart Speaker (worth £45)
- Bottle of Champagne (worth £25)
How to enter the prize draw
In order to enter the prize draw, you will need to choose one recent parcel you have received, take a photo of the packaging and then complete the survey questions about the parcel and its packaging.
Note that items from marketplace or auction sites (eBay, eBuyer, TikTok shop, etc.) or Amazon are not valid – and competition prizes are only valid if they’ve been sent directly from a retailer, rather than a fulfilment or marketing agency. So for example, if you won a prize that the promoter ordered to be delivered directly from John Lewis, that would be a valid item.
- Complete the Unboxing Survey here – you will need details of what you bought, where you bought it from, and details of how it was packaged
- At the end of the survey, upload a photo of the packaging
- Add your name and email address, and submit!
Make sure you read the full terms and conditions and get your entry in by 27 August 2025 – you can enter more than once, completing a new survey for each package you receive (each parcel must be from a different retailer). Each new survey and photo completed is another entry into the prize draw. Winners will be notified by 30 September 2025.
The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 and above.
Below is a parcel I received recently which I will use as my entry for Macfarlane’s survey – this was a delivery of four cans of Cuprinol paint from Wood Finishes Direct. The tins fitted perfectly into the box and I loved the cardboard packaging, which is stackable so easy to recycle. The paint tins were sealed with two strips of plastic tape, rather than lots of bubble wrap (which I have had before from other paint stockists!)

Good luck!
