My 5th Blogaversary – and a chance to win £50 to spend at Bliss! (CLOSED)

Can you believe it’s five years ago today that I started waffling about my wins here at SuperLucky? And there’s something in the air this year already that makes me feel 2014 will definitely be the year of @SuperLuckyDi pulling out all the comping stops. So watch out, because I’m seriously going all out to win lot of fabulous prizes this year – my spreadsheet is ready and waiting to be filled!

Yes indeed, lots of exciting things will be happening at www.superlucky.co.uk kicking off in spring… so if you want to be the FIRST to hear the news, then make sure you’ve signed up to receive emails from me here – I’ll be sending out exclusive subscriber-only content too.

To celebrate my 5th blogaversary, I’m doing a giveaway! It’s easy to enter – if you don’t subscribe already, be sure to sign up to my mailing list (don’t forget to click the confirmation email from MailChimp too!) and then leave me a comment here to let me know what you’d like me to blog about in 2014. Would you like to read comping tips, watch YouTube tutorials, hear more about the latest creative competitions, listen to my rants about crap promoters, enter exclusive giveaways, read interviews with other successful compers… or just be jealous when I share more photos from my prize holidays? I’d love to hear what you enjoy about SuperLucky and what topics you’d like me to blog about, no matter how specialist or obscure they might seem. How to take selfies in Instagram, The joys of 5am instant wins, Why Like & Share competitions are crap, How to style your hair to look like a bloke – you know, all the things that WILL help you win more prizes.

Let me know in the comments below what YOU want to read on SuperLucky and I’ll choose one winner at random who will bag themselves £50 to spend at www.blissworld.co.uk, on their range of fab skincare and pampering products for men and women. This competition is open WORLDWIDE* – the winner can choose products to the value of £50 in their local currency, and I will arrange delivery.

Good luck!

T&Cs

This prize draw is open worldwide (*except Australia, Turkey, Russia, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong – unfortunately Bliss don’t ship to these destinations). Entrants must leave a comment to say what they would like to read about on SuperLucky this year, and MUST be subscribed to the SuperLucky mailing list. Closing date is 10 February 2014 at 23.59 GMT. The winner will be chosen at random and contacted via the email address associated with their Disqus account by 14 February 2014 and must respond within 21 days with their choice of products from www.blissworld.co.uk to a total value of £50. One entry per person please.

Well I struggle with Tie Breakers so any advise on that would be great. Also. like everybody else, any advise on spotting dubious comps would be appreciated. I started comping last year. I’ve been middle of the road lucky so far. I’ve only found your blog tonight. I’m fascinated to start reading through what you get up to. Any advise with regards to twitter? I find myself deleting old RTs. I’m a bit paranoid about comp organisers would see me as a ‘professional comper’ based on my tweet history and discard my entry. I’ve had the least luck with twitter so far.

Hello Di, my first time commenting here. Greetings from abroad. I have been somewhat on and off joining in my country’s comping scene. I love slogan-type of competition but I still find myself struggling with short slogans. You know, perhaps those which are 10 words or less, that contains instant “punchline” or witty slogan, incorporating organizer’s brands etc creatively into the slogan. I think I am pretty OK with ’20 words or less’ kinda slogan but that makes it look somewhat like poem! I have tried reading on various websites and there are also many newspaper headlines that have a creative punchline too. Any advice is appreciated!

Already subscribed to mailing list 🙂 Would LOVE to hear more about your wins and others wins. I love getting excited about what others have won. I also would love tips on things like twitter comps, instagram, vine, and even pinterest as I’ve not really been brave enough to venture into trying out many of those so anything that gives a confidence boost to give those ones a go. I’d also love to hear more about how / when its worth chasing up no-show prizes, whether it is ever worth complaining, and how to effectively pester organisations to run fair competitions ie. get them to change their minds if they do voting ones. I usually point them to your blogpost on the topic but some organisations are so stubbornly set on it – they need to learn their lesson not to go down that route! I loved hearing about your google spreadsheet so any other tips on staying organised and becoming more efficient would be helpful e.g. I keep hearing about form-fillers but don’t know if its worth doing those or where to find them. I would also love to know how to get the comping/life balance right. I find I’m ‘all or nothing’ some months spending more hours doing it than people spend in a full-time job (yet squeezed in at night time and so leaving me deprived of sleep!) – It has, at times, taken on proper addictive qualities e.g. I’ve refused to go to bed until I’ve entered all the facebook comps in my facebook feed for that day (takes around 5 hours when i do that). Would love to know how to have a happy comping life without it compromising on family life! xxx

Love your blog and avidly read every email as soon as I see it in my inbox! Really appreciate all your advice re Instagram, Twitter, Vine & FB comps and am trying to wean myself away from like’n’share remembering ‘don’t like, don’t share!’ Love being inspired by hearing of your wins so really I would say just keep doing what you’re doing ‘cos you do it so well! 😉

  165. emmasfabulous says:

I really appreciated your spreadsheet post, brought me luck too, as I hadn’t had a win yet this year, then had two wins days after setting it up! I’d like some tips on how to organise your comping time. I have realised how distracted I can get, drifting off on to FB etc! Sometimes I feel like a headless chicken, even though I consider myself a seasoned comper and have had great wins over the years, I still never know whether to enter closing comps, new comps, Twitter first and so on so I scrabble around. I have taken on board your advice to actively search for what is on your wishlist so I’m trying to focus more. Congrats on your Blogaversary you do such a good job, it’s the only blog I read every post of and look forward to your email alerts.

  166. Katie Holderness says:

  167. evsgalwales says:

i love everything about superlucky! what i would like to read next is info on the sites such as ukprizes, topfox, etc the ones who offer the biggest prizes….are they worth the entry with all those questions which make me think they’re just scamming and trying to get my number to pass on to companies who will hound me about gas, electric etc maybe its just me but i hate these and won’t do them coz i think they’re just scamming numbers??? info on these would be very helpful 🙂

How to keep your comping mojo when you’re not winning, and how to boost your enthusiasm when you keep reading about others good wins. (don’t need an article to style my hair like a man…I’ve already mastered ‘Pat Sharp from Funhouse, circa 1986’! :/

I am subscribed to your mailing list.
I love reading about your wins as they inspire me to enter competitions I don’t think I’d have a chance at winning. I also love comping tips as I believe I’m still a novice at it all even after 2 years. Also as previously mentioned, would love to know more about Pinterest competitions- how to find them etc.

I’d like to see information on creative comps and where to look to find them apart from under ‘skill based’ on the site. I often see winners and think ‘how didn’t I see that?’ So any advice in that would be fantastic, thanks.

  208. Hafsah M. says:

Hi Di, congratulation on your 5th anniversary!
For me, I’d like to see a list of genuine websites that compers can go to for the purpose of looking for various competitions to enter. Many a times I come across competitions, but I’m reluctant to enter them because I’m worried they’re not genuine- particularly where they require a lot of personal information- such as postal address etc. I don’t mind providing my personal details where I know the competition is genuine, but how can you really know if a competition is genuine?
I think seeing personal blog posts on your blog linking to other genuine sites and competitions that compers can enter will be reassuring for many compers.
    Thank you!

  209. Mellissa Williams says:

a blog about comping through the ages..i know that most do comps online now, but the history of it would be good how far back can we trace them i know i used to have a magazine delivered through the post in the early 80’s but were people comping a lot in the 60’s etc. think it would be interesting to see, think my grandma used to buy titbits and they had a few competitions in them.. just a thought..

  212. Vanessa Smith says:

Congrats on your 5th blog birthday. You always seem to find such good creative comps…i’d love to know how you find them. I also loved the blog you did last year that was something along the lines of …..If i didn’t enter comps then this year i wouldn’t have………… and then you listed all the crazy things you’d done and people you’d met because of comping. (PS when i look back through my year some of the best fun i’ve had hasn’t resulted in a win but i do have a great photo to look back at.
Keep up the great work. We love you !!!!

  213. pippasmum says:

I fancy having a go at some of the more creative comps that you seem to excel in, but don’t know where to find them. Some tips detailing places to start searching would be great

  214. Lorraine says:

How to target & find specific prizes, for instance to win all the bits to make a great weekend away – the hotel, meals, activities, etc. And then persuade the relevant PR companies to actually let you take the prizes when you want to!

    • I remember you posting this on my Facebook page last year Lorraine and I definitely want to bring a blog post together along those lines – I’ll make it a challenge to win a London weekend and then write about how I did it!

  215. Dawn Adams says:

All of the above, but love to hear about other peoples wins and all those creative comps.

How does your husband feel about it all and is he happy to go along with it. Where do you get your ideas from and what do you think will be the next big thing in comping? Also, any tips for photos in comps. Yours are great and I suspect a secret weapon. P.S. good luck with Team Honk.

  219. debbie creasey says:

Firstly i would like to say i enjoy reading everything you write! you have really kept me going through the dry spells by inspiring me to carry on and not to give up. i really enjoyed your recent post on your creative comp wins and found them really amusing and inventive. i would love some advice on where to find low entry and creative competitions because it does become a bit tedious just entering you address all the time i think i need to start using the old noggin a bit more and try for better prizes. you also inspired me to create a pinterest account and set up my own wishlist and i am now in the process of creating my spread sheet for all this years wins!! (wishful thinking) although i have already had 6 wins this month! 😀

  220. Angela Walton says:

it’s probably been covered to death but I would love to get more hints and tips on slogan writing. I usually avoid these like the plague because I never seem to come up with anything witty or unique. I love reading about all your wins and am always secretly envious of you but know it’s because you put the effort in and deserve to win them 🙂 Loved the spreadsheet idea and have already started on mine, lucky enough to get a couple of wins on already but would love to see it grow

  221. Tamalyn Roberts says:

i actually pick your emails out and make time to read them as there is always something to learn about entering competitions, i have so far this year learn’t how to make a spreadsheet for all my wins and its great!! so a big thank you for that. i love reading about your creative comps and all you fab wins, it keeps me going in dry spells as i know its all about effort too. my new years resolution this year with comping is to spend more time entering for prizes i really want.
i would like to see a before, during and after for a creative competition, how you got the idea, how you made the idea real and did you win etc

  222. Clare Duiker says:

I have felt so inspired since signing up to the blog. I would love to learn more about using instagram and youtube for comps. I am also a pin it to win it newbie but struggle to find these types of comps. Loved the spreadsheet and have entered my first win of 2014 on it (a twitter win!). Thanks x

  223. Ali Thorpe says:

I love your tips for entering creative comps and I’d love more info about where to find them as I seem to miss these ones, as well as any tips you have for thinking outside the box, so to speak. (Also wanted to say thanks for posting about Google Drive the other day as I have swapped to this from my previous software and I love that I can quickly access it from my laptop or tablet. I had no idea it even existed!)

  224. Jane Sanderson says:

How to comp less and win more, how to streamline my comping entries and not try and enter everything and anything, thanks

  225. Jen Samuel says:

I’d love to know how you sniff out the low entry comps and I love hearing about the the ones to steer clear of. Thanks for all the guidance so far – I’m hoping for my first biggy win this Winter!

  231. Lexy law says:

Happy blog adversary! I like the creative comps and would like some pointers. What do do and not to do. Plus does asking if winner has been chosen affect your chances?

  232. jennhaden3 says:

I’d love to read about things that people win, I just love to see that comping does work and seeing people win great items 🙂

  233. Natalie cooper says:

I would like to start doing some postal competitions so some more information on how to find and enter these would be good. I saw a programne where people said they used coloured envelopes to get noticed but sometimes the cost of stamps out weighed the rrp of prizes won.

  234. Webster Angela says:

I love looking back at your posts when you have a had a comping day out, whether is be a day looking for competitions or a day when you have used lots of wins up, I would love to see more of these as they really inspire me. Happy Blogaversary Di !

  235. I’d like to know how you find so many good creative kids competitions and also to see those posts at half-term, as well as main school holiday periods please.

    • My son starts school this year so I’ll definitely be more tuned in to when the kids holidays are – and how important it is to keep them entertained! The only problem I have is that he HATES colouring, so it’s cooking and craft comps all the way! 😀

  236. Faridah Brooker says:

I love all the sorting out of dodgy promoters, and I love reading about people’s wins as it does confirm that people do really win – even if you yourself are going thru a dry spell despite comping for what seems like hours!

  237. Happy Homebird says:

I love to hear about the murky side of comping and having a chuckle at those comps that go wrong or rubbish prizes 😉 Maybe it makes me feel better for not winning much 🙂

  238. Clara Cort says:

My favourite posts are the ones with a long list of creative comps. It gives me inspiration and I can pick whichever I want to get involved.

    • I love these too! Must ensure I post at least one round up of creative comps every month – it’s much quicker to do if I use a linky so I’ll try that!

      • Clara Cort says:

That would be brilliant Di!!! And as I had a nice WEM from a photo comp this morning, it gave me a boost to enter more creative ones!!!

  239. shea wong says:

I’m sure you’ve written about it before, but comping etiquette seems to be an issue lately. I see a lot of comps end completely above board, and people throwing a strop that they weren’t chosen! Perhaps when the XBoxOne and PS4 comps die down, we’ll see less of it.

  240. h_igoe says:

I would love some tips on how to search and find creative comps, whats the best way to do it? (google, twitter?) Its the one thing that I am not very good at doing but I would like to do more of.

  241. Zoe Howarth says:

I would like more Youtube video’s plus any tip’s to do with Facebook/Twitter/Instagram etc. I especially liked your last video about spreadsheet’s on Google Drive!

  242. Gillian Turner says:

Hints & tips, your blog has found a few wins I hadn’t spotted and they were for great things!! I like the community that comes with this blog so maybe a find a comping friend (if this already exists I apologise, I’ve not seen anything) A lot of comps need to refer or tag a friend,, well I don’t have no comping buddies as yet so that would be nice.

  243. More tips and hints would be great thanks

  244. natchloe says:

This is my favourite blog to read for sure, love all your creative inspiration and ideas that you have. I still get confused with how to look up different creative comps on my own but perhaps it may be a little different here in Australia and we don’t have as many… I am starting to enter more photography competitions now though and completed my wishlist for this year so fingers crossed 🙂 Good luck to you Di and hope you have many, many exciting wins this year.

  245. Michael Scoates says:

I’d love to know your daily comping routine and what type of competition you studiously avoid or make sure to enter regularly.

  246. I would love to know where you buy all your props for your crazy photo/video submissions!
