Prizewinning Pansies?

This post is an entry for BritMums #KidsGrowWild ChallengeMoneysupermarket.com are running another lovely competition for bloggers – this time they’re encouraging us to get into the garden with the kids. You can read all the details on the competition page – you’ll need to sign up to get your free gardening kit, and then take photos of your child having fun with it and pop them into a blog post. Add the URL of your post to the Britmums linky and tweet it with the #KidsGrowWild hashtag before 23rd June 2013.

Prizes are a fabulous £500 to spend on a climbing frame or outdoor equipment for the kids (oh how we’d love a treehouse!) plus two runners up will get a £50 Toys’R’Us voucher – the winners will be chosen at random from all entries.

Ry and I were really impressed with the gardening kit – a sturdy green bag with lots of pockets, trowel, fork, gloves and three sets of flower seeds, along with a lovely green watering can.

As we’re moving house soon, we decided to plant the seeds in pots we can take with us rather than in the garden. So first we got busy with the compost…

Ry carefully pushed a couple of sunflower seeds into two pots, and a sprinkling of pansy seeds into the other two.

Then he added a 5mm layer of compost on top, and popped in the labels (provided in our kit!). We sellotaped each side of the labels to keep them waterproof.

And finally – a good watering!

I thought this was a lovely idea for a blogging challenge, and we really enjoyed our morning out in the garden!

If you’re tempted to start a blog – and there are some super comps just for bloggers around at the moment – there’s some great advice on starting your own blog at firstsiteguide.com!
