Walkers Win a Pay Packet

Walkers are really spoiling us this year – after the brilliant Snap and Share promotion, where hundreds of entrants won PS4s, footballs and Champions League tickets, they’re now giving away £2million of cash prizes inside crisp packets, in a delightfully old-fashioned instant win format!

In the ‘Pay Packet’ promotion, you could be a #PayDayBaller and win a cash prize of £540 (an average weekly salary), £2200 (average monthly salary) or £28,200 (average annual salary), as well as thousands of instant £5 cash prizes! It’s a ‘proper’ instant win promotion, where you really do find out instantly if you’ve won – inside winning packets are sachets containing either a voucher or a five pound note.

Watch my new ‘Di’s Prize Buys’ video to find out more….

How to win instant cash prizes

• Buy a promotional ‘Win a PayPacket’ single bag, grab bag or six-pack of Walkers Crisps
• If you’ve won an instant cash prize, you’ll find a small sachet/envelope inside your crisp packet which will either contain a five pound note, or a voucher for a larger cash prize.
• Winning packet inside multipacks are GOLD. Inside the gold packet should be a winning sachet All gold packets contain ready salted crisps – so if your Cheese & Onion multipack contains a winner, it will be a gold packet of ready salted crisps!

The prizes

• 17 x £28,200 (voucher)
• 84 x £2,200 (voucher)
• 168 x £540 (voucher)
• 250,000 x £5 (cash)

If you’re lucky enough to find a voucher for one of the bigger cash prizes, it will contain details of how to claim – you’ll need to send it off to Walkers along with the packaging. Note that in the T&Cs, Walkers state that a gold packet does NOT guarantee a cash prize – so if you get a gold ‘winner’ packet with no sachet inside, there’s probably been a mistake at the factory and unfortunately you won’t get a prize.

How to win a Walkers 6-pack online

• Enter the unique code from a promotional 6-pack at www.walkers.co.uk/paypacket (the code is only on multipacks!)
• You have a 1-in-3 chance of winning – if you win, you will see a winning message on screen and receive an email containing a unique voucher to download and print. It can be exchanged at most retailers for a 6-pack of Walkers.
• Note that the odds reset after each entry – so if you enter three codes in a row, you’re not guaranteed to get a voucher!
• You can enter up to five times a day

The promotion is open to UK, Channel Islands & Isle of Man residents only.
Check the T&Cs at paypacket.walkers.co.uk. Closing date for all entries and prize claims is 31st December 2017.

So what are the odds of winning?

Do you remember the ‘Spell & Go’ Walkers promotion last year? In addition to the controversial letter collecting element, there was a straightforward instant win too –  251,000 winning sachets were inserted into promotional packets of crisps. That’s even more prizes than this PayPacket promotion – but how many winners did you hear of? Not many, I bet! (I personally heard from less than ten winners, who won ebooks and vouchers for a free packet of crisps!)

That’s because millions of individual promotional Walkers packets will be produced – and we have no idea how many are out there! This article claims Walkers produce over 11 million bags every day… so if we have a rough guess that 250,000,000 promotional packets will be produced, your chance of winning one of the (approximately 250,000) cash prizes will be 1 in 1000 for each packet you buy (or 1 in 167 for the multi-packs, which sounds a bit better!). Of course though, this is just me guessing the numbers and I could be way off – but you could always check Twitter for the #PayDayBaller hashtag to see how many of those gold packets are appearing!

In conclusion, this promotion doesn’t offer very good odds of winning a cash prize. BUT remember that entering the unique codes online will give you a 1-in-3 chance of getting a free voucher for another 6 pack (and so, another chance to win!) And look out for discounts in the shops too – 6-packs are only £1 at Morrisons, Asda, Tesco & Sainsbury’s right now (see mysupermarket.co.uk for the latest prices).

Finally, don’t forget to leave a comment to let me know if you find a fiver in your bag of crisps!
