Weekend Winners
This week I’ve got more stories of really special prizes. When these emails popped into my inbox, they reminded me what a wonderful hobby we have and how it can bring such happiness to our lives and also our family and friends.
Sharon won £1000 to spend on a special and inspirational fundraising event…
“Back in August a post from Experian UK came up on my Facebook feed. You were asked to comment with your secret ambition and they would pick their 3 favourites to win £1000 each. After reading the terms and conditions I learnt that it had be something that was achievable with the £1000 and something you could complete before the end of the year. I also learnt that the competition was also titled “One life use it for more”.
My husband (aged 38) had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, so this title felt very personal to me. I commented: “One life use it for more, I couldn’t agree more. I learnt this hard way when my hubby was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer earlier in the year. I would use the £1000 towards organising a fabulous fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research UK because not only would it be a wonderful day for me, my friends and family, full of laughter and fun it would help 1000’s of other people.”
I won and organised a vintage afternoon tea for over 120 people, with bubbles on arrival, a table magician, beautiful cakes and a raffle (with enough prizes for nearly everyone to win something) and a festive quiz. The event raised over £1800, I enjoyed it so much I am going to make it an annual event!”

Weber ran an ‘Outstanding Moments’ competition last year where five winners won a visit from the Weber team to make their barbecue extra special! Sue was one of the winners, with a beautifully crafted video which you can watch on Vimeo.
“I was delighted to win as it was genuinely an outstanding moment as my cousin from NZ was visiting with his family. His kids had never met my kids, and we were all very excited! I spent the day learning to cook with Tobi the chef, and catered for my guests about 3pm. We had an absolute ball. Weber gave me a brand new barbeque, all the equipment, food, drinks etc. Plus all the fabulous decorations – even personalised champagne, the blankets, fairy lights and bunting!
It was a brilliant day. Definitely something I’ll remember forever. For me it goes to show that the effort to get my entry’s message across paid off. It was a perfect prize that money just couldn’t buy!”
And Sally won a beach barbecue in the same competition! Here’s her sunny winning photo…

“I am quite new to the whole comping thing – I didn’t realise how addictive it is! I have had an absolutely amazing start to my wins. My best, most amazing prize was the Weber #comeonover campaign. I won a brilliant masterclass with a party for 12 of my family and friends, a £400 barbecue and about £200 worth of accessories. Such an easy one to enter too!”
And finally, Cassie‘s prize story is just fantastic, I shed a tear watching the video…
“I entered a Crabbie’s competition to win the most refreshingly adventurous prize you could imagine. I told them I’d love to win a refreshingly adventurous blind driving experience for my dad who lost his sight at 12 years old in a cricket accident. To my shock, last March they told me I had won and later in the year I surprised my dad with the blind driving experience day. I can’t describe how amazing the prize was because it meant so much to see my dad so empowered doing something he had always wanted to try and something I (and everyone else) just takes for granted. It will stay with us forever”
What lovely stories, and such an inspiration! Look out for more winning stories next weekend.

Wonderful! How fantastic that these competitions existed for these lucky and deserving people to get to win these moments. Thanks for sharing these 🙂
