Weekend Winners

I received some fantastic winners stories from SuperLucky readers earlier his year – and in this post I’m featuring some of the biggest prizes you told me about!

First of all, a dream prize for one of my overseas readers. African comper Ope has featured in a Q&A on SuperLucky before, and last year he won a CAR!

“My best win of 2015 was in a general knowledge challenge played via the organiser’s mobile app. Each contestant was allowed to play for only ten minutes a day – the objective was for contestants to answer as many questions as they could within the 10 minutes – points were given for correct answers and deducted for wrong answers. The challenge lasted for a month, and there were prizes for the top 3 positions on the leaderboard – I won an iPhone 6 plus in the very first week and at the end of the challenge I emerged the overall winner of a Kia Rio 2015!”

Zoey won an awesome prize on the BigTop40 radio show… a trip to see Ariana Grande in Las Vegas, Pharrell at Singapore F1, Katy Perry in Sau Paulo and Ed Sheeran in Sydney! PLUS £1000 spending money and a Samsung S6!

“On a weekly basis you had to tweet the artist name and city they were appearing in. On 8th July I received a DM asking for my contact details and had a call the next day (my birthday!) advising I had been short listed. A few days later I received a call from the producer. There was about 5 minutes of silence, then the big countdown began, the tension built, and then silence… “And the winner is ZOEY!” – OMG! I couldn’t say anything on social media until it was broadcast on Capital Radio at 6pm. It was the longest 3 hours of my life! What an amazing year 2015 was!”

Natalie won a prize from the Big Top 40 show too – a trip to New York!

“The entry route was ‘Describe what would make your Christmas special’ – I said ‘To recreate Home Alone 2 in New York’. Didn’t think anything of it until a phone call started with “You recently entered a competition with us…” – they informed me I had been shortlisted and might be on the show, so I spend the day of the show staring at my phone thinking what if…then it rings!! A lovely on air chat on the Big Top 40 follows and they tell me I have won 3 nights in The Plaza, flights for the three of us, our choice of dates, Top of the Rock tickets, spending money and transfers! It certainly made my Christmas!”

Michele won a trip to the Caribbean that was advertised in 99p stores, and her story shows that sometimes PR companies will change the prize to suit your circumstances!

“I only entered once. The prize was a luxury holiday to the Caribbean worth £2,000. Whilst chatting to the PR company about being a single parent with two young-ish children, they offered to supply the prize in vouchers that I could use against a holiday more suited to my family. I snapped up the chance as my children really wanted to stay in a specific self-catering cottage in Dorset. The prize almost covered 2-years-worth of holidays during August and I can concentrate on enjoying the time with my girls instead of stressing about the cost!”
